EDUCATION:
Education and the acquisition of knowledge is the road to self improvement, one of the essential building blocks of individual liberty and of nations. It should be kept as close to the home and family as possible in keeping with the 10th Amendment.
Fundamental education should occur in the home. Beyond that, the locality and the state supervise education with clearly defined criteria and goals agreed to by the people. Meeting the criteria and goals should principally be accomplished by the free market. Through free enterprize and tax credits, the individual parents or gaurdians should choose where their children are educated, be it in state schools, private schools, or at home. Legislators and agencies must reflect these fundamental principles. Parents or guardians should be the masters of their children's education, not the federal government, which should only regulate interstate commerce aspects of education. The states should establish the objectives and measurements, with locally elected boards and parents in control.
